If you don’t like your life - give it to Jesus, He’s got a better one for you
I was watching a preach this week by Steffany Gretzinger. She’s an amazing worship leader from America and I found out she’s only 14 days older than me. As I watched her preach to thousands I couldn’t help but compare our lives and feel how far away I am from where she is. She preached with such passion and intimacy as if she knew God so closely. She said a few sentences that stuck out to me:
“It’s always so life-giving when the conversation finds its way back to Jesus - everything else is exhausting”.
I felt that really resonate with me. Why have I started talking so much about things that are exhausting?! I need to start talking about Jesus way more!!
She also said:
“If you don’t like your life - give it to Jesus, He’s got a better one for you”.
It makes so much sense. If we’re grumbling & discontent then why not hand it over? He is able to do miracles with things in His hands so why not put our lives in them? Yes, I’ve given Him my life when I chose to follow Him, but daily, why am I not handing over all the exhausting things too?
On reflection.. it wasn’t that my life is far away from where hers is, it’s that my life is far away from where He is! I can’t afford to just learn from other peoples conversations with God, I need to have my own intimate conversation with Him.
Help me..(help us) to love Your word, to treasure Your presence & for everything else to lose its flavour in comparison to loving You Jesus!
