Though the seasons change, your love remains
As we enter November, we're beginning to really see the seasons change. The last traces of autumn, with all its wonderful colours, are seen in the leaves piled up on the pavement. Even I was surprised when I looked out the window at 4 pm today and it was starting to get dark already!
Seasons are part of God's design. Not only in terms of the year, but in life. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, "For everything, there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven". Every season has a purpose and holds opportunities to draw closer to God and become more like Him. Our walk with God matures and develops as we journey through the seasons with Him, in both the good times and hard times.
For many of us, this winter will feel different from those before. Some might be feeling fear or trepidation at what lies ahead in these uncertain times. But I want to encourage you that no matter what this winter holds, we can be assured that God's love will remain faithful, constant, and unchanging. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. God promises to never leave us in whatever season, whether physical or spiritual, we're in. He promises to walk through them with us. More than that, He wants us to draw close to Him, inviting Him into the messiness of our lives, to reveal more of Himself and His character to us. Psalm 73: 23- 26 says:
Yet I am always with you;
you hold me by my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel,
and afterwards you will take me into glory.
Whom have I in heaven but you?
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.
So, as we see weather change and the nights draw in, why don't you take a moment to ask God about the season you're in, what opportunities it holds and invite Him to walk with you through it.
