Building Update August 2021
No news is good news, or so they say. From the last building update to this it feels as though there is nothing concrete to say. I get the impression there may be a lot of that in the coming years as we press ahead with the expansion. As a building discernment team we continue to draw wisdom around us as we consider the next steps in the project. Funding is uppermost in our minds and so we have set about creating a plan that will outline our funding strategy and desire. This is complex work! It involves, architects, surveyors, grant and bid writing specialists. It of course involves our God.
The building expansion brings into focus the future of our church. What we will be when it's built is far more important than what we will do after it is built. In the parable of the talents found in Matthew 25, the master gives gifts to his servants that are to be put to work while he is away. To the two who double the gold given to them the master responds, "'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'"
We don't have a complete and perfect building. One which realises God's purpose for us but we do have a building. Let us be faithful with it. Let us use what we have. Commit it to him. One day, when the building is complete, we will join the master's happiness!
