Building Update February 2021
We're delighted to let you know that we had a really positive pre-planning application meeting with Edinburgh Council. As George has mentioned in previous updates, our scheme has been developed and amended to take into consideration the council's concerns on our last application. The meeting was a really positive conversation around how we've developed the site to make the most of the area without overburdening the site and the surrounding area. It's our shared desire the church complements the community in which it sits aesthetically but of course that the expanded building supports our desire to be kingdom releasers and givers in our community. We're convinced the new scheme is fit for purpose on both accounts and whilst the pre-planning application is by no means final approval there was a real sense that the council are comfortable with what we're trying to achieve.
The next steps are to take into account some minor points raised (all of which we agreed with!) at the pre-planning meeting and adjust the scheme before full planning application to the council. Our current timeline is that this will be submitted by the 19th of February and expect to be in receipt of a decision from the council in May this year.
God is good. He is faithful to himself. Faithful in building his church, bricks and mortar and all! We thank him and trust him for the next phase of the process. Please join us in rejoicing in this milestone. Let us not cease praying too that God will see us through and that we will indeed receive full planning and listed building consent.
